Developer Tools

Settings > Developer collects maintenance and diagnostic tools. Despite the name, two of them — the data recovery tools — are genuinely useful to every user. Everything here is non-destructive: nothing in this pane deletes recordings or transcriptions.

Data Recovery

• Rebuild Library From Audio Files — "Reconstruct History from the recordings on disk if your library was wiped." If History ever shows empty while your audio files still exist on disk, this scans the recordings folder and recreates a History entry for each file. Covered step by step in Library Recovery.
• Re-transcribe Pending Recordings — "Run every pending recording through the active engine, one at a time." Batch-processes every recording whose transcription is blank — typically right after a library rebuild. Covered in Re-transcription.

The two are designed as a pair: rebuild restores the entries with blank text, then batch re-transcription fills the text back in.

UI Testing

Previews used during Murmur's development, left in because they are fun:

• Waveform Visualization Test — preview all waveform options with live microphone input
• Aurora Ribbons Test — Siri-style flowing ribbons driven by real audio
• Statistics Preview — every statistics card rendered with mock data

These only display things; they change no settings and store no data.

Debug Actions

• Reset Onboarding — "Show the setup checklist on the Home page immediately." Clears the remembered setup progress so the first-run checklist reappears on the Home page. Useful if you skipped steps during first run and want the guided flow back. It does not touch permissions, models, providers, or any of your data — it only un-hides the checklist.
