Floating Teleprompter
(New in 1.6) The floating teleprompter is a slim panel that sits at the top of your screen — styled to blend into the MacBook notch — and stays above your other windows while you present, record, or read. Because it floats over everything, you can read from your script while another app (a video call, a screen recording, a slide deck) is front and center.
Starting in the floating view
From the Teleprompter setup screen, click Start in Floating View instead of Start in Main View. The panel appears at the top of your chosen display and begins tracking in whichever mode you selected.
You can also have it open automatically: turn on Show Floating View Automatically in Teleprompter Settings and every session opens straight into the floating panel.
The control bar
Along the bottom of the floating panel is a compact control bar:
- Progress readout — your current line and the total, e.g.
12 / 40, with a thin progress track showing how much script remains. - Text size — the − and + buttons shrink or grow the script text live, from small to large (roughly 11–32 pt). Your choice is remembered for next time. (The main-view teleprompter uses a fixed reading size; live text sizing is specific to the floating panel.)
- Screen-share visibility — the eye button toggles whether the panel is visible to screen recordings and shares (see below).
- Pause / Resume and Stop — pause tracking without ending the session, or stop and see your session results.
You can also tap any line in the panel to jump your position to it, exactly as in the main view.
Hide it from screen shares
The standout feature of the floating panel is that it can be invisible to everyone but you. This is what makes it a true teleprompter for video calls and recordings: your audience sees your app, but not your script.
- The eye button (and the Show During Screen Share setting) controls this. When the panel is set to hidden, it is excluded from all screen recordings and shares — only you see it on your physical display. When set to shown, it appears in captures like any other window.
- The default is hidden from screen shares, so you are private by default. Flip it per session from the eye button, or change the default in Teleprompter Settings.
Whether the panel is hidden from a share is enforced by macOS at the window level. It applies to screen recording, video-call screen sharing, and screenshots.
Choosing which monitor it appears on
(New in 1.6) If you have more than one display connected, the setup screen shows a Floating View Display picker. Choose Main Display or any connected monitor by name, and the panel opens on that screen. This lets you keep the script on a second monitor or laptop screen while you present on the main one. With a single display, the picker is hidden and the panel simply uses your one screen.
Ending a session
Click Stop in the control bar to end the session. The floating panel closes, final tracking is computed, and your session results are recorded to History.
