Teleprompter Settings
Settings > Teleprompter sets the defaults for every session, so you don't have to reconfigure each time. Most of these can also be changed per session on the setup screen. Teleprompter is a beta feature.
Default Mode
Which mode — Live, Voice, or Auto — a new session starts in. Default: Live.
Default Tracking Engine
The speech engine used for Live-mode tracking: Apple Speech (Real-Time), Apple Speech (Analyzer) (macOS Tahoe only), or WhisperKit (Optimized). Each option shows its typical latency next to it. You can override this per session from the setup screen.
Default Speed
The scroll rate for Voice and Auto modes, from 1.0 to 5.0 words per second (in 0.5 steps). Average reading speed is about 2.5–3 words per second. In Voice mode this is how fast text advances while you are speaking; in Auto mode it is the constant scroll rate.
Words per Line
(New in 1.6) How many words fit on a line before wrapping, from 4 to 12 (default 8). This applies to the Line-by-Line script layout — shorter lines are easier to read at a glance and keep the active line centered. It is independent of text size, and the Original layout keeps your own line breaks instead.
Voice Threshold
(New in 1.6) The sensitivity control for Voice mode, set with a live calibrator:
- A mic level meter shows your current input in real time, with a Speaking / Quiet readout.
- A draggable threshold line marks the level at which scrolling starts. Speak normally and set the line just above your quiet-room level.
- Scrolling advances while your level is above the line and pauses when you drop below it (with a short grace period so natural pauses between words don't stop the scroll).
The calibrator only listens while you are looking at it, and nothing is recorded — it is purely for setting the level.
Show Floating View Automatically
When on, starting a session opens the floating teleprompter panel automatically instead of the main view. Default: on.
Show During Screen Share
(New in 1.6) Controls whether the floating panel is visible to screen recordings and shares. When off (the default), the panel is hidden from all captures — only you see it, which is what makes it usable as a private teleprompter on video calls. When on, it appears in shares like a normal window. You can also flip this per session with the eye button on the floating panel.
